Full notice

Purpose of telephone verification

Your telephone number will be used to verify your account, protect Secret Communities and prevent unauthorised or abusive use.

  • Sending or initiating verification
  • Confirming that the number is accessible to you
  • Preventing repeated or abusive account creation
  • Protecting invitations and community access
  • Investigating security incidents
  • Applying legally required restrictions

Who can see your number

Your full telephone number must not be visible to community owners, community administrators, moderators, other community members, or invitation senders or recipients. Where operationally possible, internal interfaces must display only a masked number.

No marketing without separate consent

The telephone number must not be used for marketing calls or promotional messages unless you have provided a separate, optional and valid marketing consent. Refusing marketing consent does not block verification itself.

Retention

Telephone verification logs must be retained only for the documented security or legal retention period described in the Data Retention and Deletion Notice (exact periods to be set by authorised privacy counsel).
